Have been this week to Joburg with my dad and we asked our friend Ricky for a Lift to see the Two Boats.
Has soon as we went sailing we knew it was that one and there was no point to going 2 hours south of Joburg to the Vaal Dam..
Kim did a thorough inspection of the conditions of the boat and after the thumbs up we went on to do some business..
We managed to get reserve it for 100 000 Rands.

I have been searching for a while for Holidays 23 in South Africa but most of them are in Cape Town.. and to Tow a 1.5 ton boat from there to Maputo might be a challenge, but I managed to find a couple in Joburg… Which makes it much easier to go and get it… And the great thing about this ones is that they have never been in SaltWater has they are in Damn.
There is one in the Vaal Damn and another in Haterbeesport Damn, I just managed to get a pick of one has the other one the owner has been delaying that picture for a while… so that makes me think that the boat is not in good conditions otherwise he would have sent it to me no problem.
They have the same specs more or less the difference is that one has a Yamaha 8hp and the other a Four stroke Honda.
I will try to go next week to Joburg to see this two boats.

I have been looking at how to transport the Holiday 23 from South Africa to Maputo.. So I started searching about trailers for this boat and luckily found a few good examples and even the measures.
Will have to find somewhere where they make boat trailers to this specific measures.. and prices for such.
Posted by: Molwen on: 12/01/2011
Why? Because its easy to transport and I can take it anywhere if I have a good trailer.
Its South African made, started production early 80´s and were made 189 of them.
Designed by A.Lavranos and has a retractable keel, to make it easy to transport it around.
There is a tight online community with forums that can help with any problems you might have.
And its a cheap boat for what it offers.

Hi guys, here are a few things I have been a busy little bee with. I’ve chosen to work in different styles influenced by the Aussie environment. We loved this bike, originally it was spray-painted purple, yellow and pink and bound for the scrap heap, but I decided to turn a sorry looking bike into something inspired by aboriginal dot paintings. Now its somewhere out there in Brisbane! Hope you like the rest of the work! Fi

Good news everyone
All our 12 month holiday visas have been accepted and they are ready to be used. Great news specially for someone which is not British, because being a Portuguese trying to go to Australia is not as easy as you might think, I explain! We had two nationalities applying and the Portuguese ones took 1 month and we had to take an X-ray (which cost us £150), have our picture taken by the Australian Authorities, send our bank statements with enough money and send a photocopy of our passports. The owner of the British passport got its visa 24h later and no papers or x-rays needed and her visa has the option to work in Australia which the Portuguese ones wont be allowed to do.
Hopefully there will be much more to come ![]()

More great news. We have purchased the tickets to Perth… So, I guess this is really happening now.. From a single idea to a final decision.
We looked for days to find the cheapest fares.. And the best website to compare prices is at kayak, specially long distance flights. There was a cheaper one than Singapore Airlines but the airline wasn’t part of the Star Alliance group which all of us are part of to try to get some free close distance flights. So we bought through ebookers.com and cost us £499 a one way ticket. We are leaving here on the 11 of September 2009 from London Heathrow on a Airbus A380, stopping in Singapore Changi International Airport for 3 hours (maybe even meeting Brian there for a few hours) and then off to Perth International Airport arriving around 1pm.
Hopefully there will be much more to come

After hours and hours on Google earth (and few more hours will come) I chose a few places that we should stop by. Maybe to see some sharks, maybe to fish, maybe to sight viewing, maybe to surf, snorkeling, eating, sleeping…. etc.
here are some placemarks where we’re going – based on peoples recommendations and google earth photos.
If you have any recommendations please just shout and we will be happy to check it out.
soon will upload part 2

Au Revoir
You say you’re going to Australia
Well good luck to you, sport.
From what I’ve heard it’s weird
Full or camels and flies to be caught!
There’s the ubiquitous Ayres rock
Which changes colour at night.
Well of course it does
As the sun sets there’s a different light.
Big deal! There’s also the opera house
I can just see you sitting in despair.
Bored to sobs listening to some wierdo
Wishing you weren’t there!
Then there’s the Outback,
There’s masses and masses of that.
It’s a place nobody goes to
Cos its dust, dry and endlessly flat!
Of course you can go surfing
Or snorkel just for a lark.
Then try to swim back
With your legs bitten off by a shark!
So bon voyage Ricardo Oliveira
I hope you know what you’re doing
Leaving civilisation at its best
In exchange for sunshine and canooeing!
I’ll miss you of course ‘cos you’re fun
And that’s what life’s all about.
Having fun, making love on the beach.,
And lying about in the sun!
Bon voage!

Thank you Tony ![]()

This sabbatical year i have decided (since I am the only driver) to enjoy a trip without any sort of rush. So i have putted a limit target to myself during the whole trip to 80 KM/h on motor ways and if i do go over i will post it, so i’ll make sure that i wont fall for it.
For people who know me you will understand that normally i dont go as fast as 80 km/h even when I am in a rush to get somewhere so some people wont even get surprised by this decision.
I even have a funny story just for you to understand that this even might be a problem for some people. This was around 2002 I was taking my girlfriends brother from his parents house to his grandparents, a trip that normally for him would take around 15 min because his parents have a kind of a heavy foot as we say in Portuguese and basically the trip was taking so long that after 45 min he started crying and moaning. Screaming that it shouldnt take take long to get there. Having in mind that there wasnt any stops, heavy traffic or even any accidents on those roads.
Hopefully there will be much more to come

Hello Everyone we have arrived! Been here for a couple of days and still jetlagged.. Our hostel is quite cool and not too busy. We are in central Perth and we have been studying the city. Its not too big so it should be fine.
One bad thing is that finding Wi-Fi has proven to be a pain in the crack.. Is the internet!! But the 22.6kb from the library is proving to be the Fibre Optic of the area

pS: For whom might not know the purpose of the corks in the hat is to scare insect away from your face with the movement… which I think its quite a kniffty idea. I think Africa might need some of these
